The Junior MANRRS Institute is a comprehensive program designed to foster leadership skills, promote academic excellence, and ignite a passion for agriculture, natural resources, and STEM fields in high school students. Through workshops, mentorship, and real-world exposure, the Institute prepares students to excel in their academic and career pursuits while nurturing a commitment to diversity and inclusion in these vital industries.

Information for Advisors: Apply for a Grant to Support Junior MANRRS Institutes - Agriculture STEM Leadership Events

MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences) is committed to supporting educators, advisors, and institutions that share our mission of preparing the next generation of leaders in agriculture and STEM. We invite you to apply for a Junior MANRRS Institute Grant Application, with awards up to $5,000, to help fund and expand your local leadership and STEM-based initiatives.


What Can the Grant Be Used For?

  • Hosting leadership development workshops or seminars for students.
  • Organizing hands-on STEM or agriculture-related activities, such as field trips or lab experiences.
  • Providing materials and resources for local or regional Junior MANRRS events.
  • Supporting guest speakers, mentors, or industry professionals who can engage with your students.
  • Funding travel and accommodations for students to attend MANRRS-related events.

How to Apply for a Grant

  1. Complete the Online Application
    Apply below for the Junior MANRRS Institute Grant Application. Be prepared to submit a brief project proposal outlining the event details, objectives, and a budget breakdown.

  2. Submit Supporting Documents
    Along with your application, upload a completed proposal to include:

    • A description of how the event will enhance students’ knowledge of agriculture, STEM, and leadership.
    • How will content related to MANRRS be incorporated into the event.
    • Junior MANRRS Contests
    • A detailed budget specifying how the grant funds will be used.
    • A timeline for event planning and execution.
  3. Grant Review and Award Notification
    All grant applications will be reviewed by the MANRRS leadership team. Recipients will be notified via email within four (4) weeks of the application close date. If selected, you will receive funding and guidance on how to successfully implement your event.


Grant Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting grant applications is December 10, 2024. Applications received after this date will be considered for the next funding cycle.


Post-Event Report

As part of the grant agreement, a Post-Event Report must be submitted within 30 days of the conclusion of the event. This report ensures accountability and helps MANRRS assess the impact of the funded event. The report should include:

  • Summary of the Event
    Provide a brief overview of the event, including the number of participants, event activities, pictures, and outcomes.

  • Event Impact
    Highlight how the event enhanced students' knowledge of agriculture, STEM, and leadership skills. Include feedback from students, teachers, or speakers.

  • Financial Reconciliation
    Submit a detailed financial report outlining how the grant funds were utilized.

  • Future Recommendations
    Suggest improvements or adjustments for future events and reflect on how similar events can further contribute to student growth in agriculture and STEM.

Failure to submit the post-event report may impact eligibility for future grant opportunities.
